Public art means beauty for everyone! Go check out Arlington’s newest sculpture in celebration of @fifaworldcup @fwc26dallas Built in 28 days in Nigeria, the Texan Golden Boot weighs 1 ton, is 18 ft long, and is made from reclaimed metal. Its 3,000-mile journey from Lagos to Brussels, then another 4,100 miles to Cincinnati, concluded in a celebration after an additional 1,000 miles at the Arlington Museum of Art where it was uncrated and assembled. I had recently had the honor of celebrating the AISD Fire Academy Class 14 graduation! These students spent 2 years at the Fire Academy at the Dan Dipert Career + Technical Center located in District 5. Through the partnership between @arlingtonisdtx , @tarrantcountycollege , and the @arlingtontxfire , this program was one of the first of its kind in the nation and has helped set the standard for many high school fire academy programs across the country. These students will graduate high school with the training, certifications, and confidence to begin careers in the fire service. I’m proud Arlington is so full of opportunities and options for our scholars! I am thankful for their drive and also the leadership of Lieutenant Alex English, AISD Fire Academy Coordinator. On Tuesday night, District 5 took its seat on City Council. I am so grateful to every resident who raised their voice. Your trust in our vision will be remembered. We will not be perfect. But I promise to listen... and love... and work with everything I have. What a great night to be sworn in as City Councilwoman in my hometown. Let’s get to work!

4th graders at Crow Leadership Academy and I had a GREAT conversation today about Civic Engagement, Leadership, and how they, too, can someday be on City Council! We discussed that leaders: 👂Listen with empathy ♟️Strategize for the most good ⭐️ Act with integrity by doing what you say you are going to do I brought color pages for the students to draw themselves being what they want to be when they grow up right here in The Dream City. I am so excited for our city’s future with our amazing students! As a former @arlingtonisdtx 4th grader, I know everyone belongs in Arlington, TX!

We had a 5% chance of winning. AND WE WON!!! District 5, I will take up those odds for you yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Last night, with an 11% lead, we, the people, of District 5 won our seat at City Hall. I am honored to be the elected conduit through which District 5 has a voice. ✅ 3,500+ doors knocked. ✅ 100+ volunteers ✅ 78 hours of poll greeting ✅ Over 3,000 votes cast, a number not seen for this seat in recent history. To every soul who helped with this campaign… Thank you. You have made a lasting difference in the lives of so many. It was a joy to spend the last 10 weeks in a labor of swing dancing love to support @missionarlington I’m thankful to the Downtown @rotaryclubofarlington for raising money in such a fun way. District 5 has many wonderful resources for our community! Whether you’re dancing or volunteering (or dance volunteering?) join me in spreading awareness and support for our community. 💃🕺✨
